The Union Snyder County Commissioners recently appointed rabbittransit as the Shared Ride Coordinator for Union and Snyder Counties. Based in York, PA, rabbittransit is a multicounty municipal transportation authority which currently oversees shared ride operations in Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Franklin, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Union and York Counties. Previously, the Union Snyder County Transportation Departments served as the Shared Ride Coordinators for the County. Under the partnership agreement, it will no longer be county-based departments and will be consolidated into the rabbittransit organization.
The following frequently asked questions were created to help prepare our customers for the transition.
Customers should notice minor changes in the delivery of shared ride service. The goal of this effort is to offer residents some expanded service hours and areas, which were not previously offered under the County's Transportation Program.
All Union Snyder County employees are given the option to become rabbittransit employees, so you will see and speak to many of the same people you have before. There is also a chance you will see some new faces when riding the bus.
The transition to rabbittransit reduces costs and the savings can be reinvested in the service, assisting in keeping your fares low in the future. Customers may enjoy the expanded travel opportunities in Union Snyder Counties and beyond. Additionally, customers will be able to utilize an automated call back system, rider alert feature, trip reminders and imminent arrival calls that are designed to make sure you reach your destination on time.
Beginning June 17, 2016, customers can schedule their rides for trips on or after July 1, 2016 by calling 1.800.632.9063. The rabbittransit call center will offer Union Snyder residents expanded call center hours -- 7AM to 7PM Weekdays and 7:45AM-3:00PM Saturday. To make a reservation for trips prior to July 1, riders should call Union Snyder Transportation Alliance (USTA).
There are many transportation programs that subsidize transportation for the rider. Most individuals will qualify for more than one funding source. The larger application collects all the data needed for the programs at one time. This allows rabbittransit to fully evaluate a rider’s transportation options and assist with the best options.
In the near term, the vehicles will look exactly the same. Later in 2016, vehicles bearing the rabbittransit logo and branding will be introduced into service. Those black and white buses will resemble the one in the picture below.
Riders who have co-pays will most likely not see changes to these amounts, but should confirm the actual co-pay at the time of trip reservation.
